Last week Marie and Alix participated in Parkex event in Birmingham. Organized by the influential British Parking Association (BPA), “Parkex is the place to go to see first-hand all the most innovative parking technologies available today”. It is a must-attend event for all parking actors in the UK!
Since Qucit is not yet present on the British market, we had two major aims for Parkex:
- assess the innovative nature of our product: predicting and optimizing parking. As a matter of fact, the UK decriminalized parking in 1991, while France took the plunge just a little over a year ago: in January 2018;
- create partnership with well-known private actors and local authorities as well as pick up some British press articles, why not?
The presentations of our predictive products, dedicated to optimize control and provide prescriptive information for users, followed one another. Private operators, local authorities and parking consultants highlighted the relevance of our solutions for tackling the city centres’ accessibility problems.
Just like the markets on which we operate, i.e France or the Netherlands, consultants play a key role alongside with local authorities in the UK.
These experts help choose the optimal technological, political and human solution to optimize the parking situation. Exchanging with them was therefore crucial for Qucit to obtain the valuable feedback.
Each year, about ten finalists are chosen to show their major innovation at Parkex. Among selected, Qucit was the only one from abroad. Alix presented our partnership with Egis Parking Services, an operator of parking control in Amsterdam. Each day their planning team uses ParkPredict Control to optimize the number of control rounds for a 150,000’s parking spots. The tool predicts violations and parked vehicles and then automatically generates intelligent routes to minimize the number of kilometers travelled by ANPR vehicles.
Parkex 2019 ended on an excellent note: Qucit won the Innovation of the Year 2019 award, chosen by a jury of experts! After the winner photo with Kelvin Reynolds, Julian O’Kellly and John MacArdle, Marie and Alix took part in the interview session for the local media.
