Raphaël is a data science expert, entrepreneur and the CEO of Qucit. He’s been programming and playing with numbers since primary school and has always been passionate about two things: understanding the world through mathematical modelling and protecting the environment.
Raphaël entered the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Lyon at 18, the youngest in France, and earned a PhD in Theoretical Physics of Complex Systems. He then took a tenure as a researcher, working on CO2 storage with the goal of reducing green house gas emissions.
In September 2013, he left his research position to create Qucit and work full time on improving urban mobility using Artificial Intelligence. He completed his formation at HEC Paris where he was awarded the Prize for Best Business Plan by a jury of experts, entrepreneurs and investors.
Raphaël is also the co-founder of the association of theatrical improvisation « Restons Calmes ! » which is well-known in Bordeaux, one of the top 0.1% biggest users of the VCub (Bordeaux bikeshare system), a black belt in taekwondo, skydiver and tango dancer.
Hassène is a cloud engineer and technical director at Qucit. It builds and maintains our cloud architecture while ensuring that it remains both available and scalable.
He holds two engineering degrees in computer science from the National School of Computer Science in Tunisia and the Polytechnic Institute of Bordeaux. He specializes in distributed networks and systems.
Outside of work, Hassène enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking and street photography.
Chief Data Scientist
Gabriele is Chief Data Scientist at Qucit. He oversees the entire data management process, from raw data to forecasting used to drive the predictive models that feed our products.
He obtained a doctorate in mathematics from the University of Bologna. During his PhD, he worked at Sony Computer Science Laboratory where he played with artificial intelligence and machine learning to enable computers to create music and poetry.
In 2012, he joined Aldebaran Robotics, world leader in humanoid robotics. He has implemented the language model that reinforces the conversational skills of the Pepper robot. Despite his past as a judoka and rugby player, Gabriele is a fan of football and the Tour de France. He is bassist and co-producer of several EPs of Angus Mc Og.
VP Sales & Customer Success
Marie is our sales and marketing manager.
In 2010, she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in International Trade from Cardiff Metropolitan University. She completes her training with a Master’s degree in Business Strategy from EM Normandie in 2013.
After completing her studies, she decided to leave France to work abroad. Business Analyst in the United States, Business Developer in India and then International Project Manager, she spends more than 3 years in the United States, acquiring multicultural skills. She learns all the tricks of international trade.
In 2015, she co-founded Urbanovacion, the association. Together with her partner, she will spend 7 months identifying urban mobility initiatives in Latin America.
Almost as much as traveling, Marie loves to cook. She brings back something to spice up her dishes from each of the countries she visits.
Yassine is a data scientist at Qucit. Among his missions, he ensures that the various data science models integrate seamlessly into Qucit’s various products, APIs and internal tools. In addition to these functions, Yassine is actively involved in sharing knowledge internally and onboarding new data scientists.
Yassine holds a degree in general engineering from Ecole Centrale Paris and a Master’s degree in statistics from Cambridge University.
Before joining Qucit, Yassine worked at Suez Environment on the detection of anomalies in the drinking water network. Just before that, he conducted econometric consulting missions.
Outside of work, Yassine enjoys testing new data science and visualization tools, participating in Kaggle challenges and answering questions on Quora. Plus, he likes running and watching twist movies.
Rémi is a data scientist at Qucit. He works on Artificial Intelligence tools to analyze aerial images.
Passionate about issues related to artificial intelligence and Big data, Rémi is currently pursuing his PhD at the University of Bordeaux in partnership with LaBRI on the use of convolutive neural networks for the automatic segmentation of aerial images to detect and correct errors in cartographic data.
Rémi also holds a master’s degree in software engineering from the University of Bordeaux. In 2012, he won the Isabelle Attali Award for his academic achievement and scientific research ability.
Outside of work, Remi enjoys traveling and reading all the novels he can get his hands on, especially those by Stephen King. In his spare time he also enjoys following professional League of Legends competitions.
Paul is a full-time hacker and full stack developer. At Qucit, its mission is focused on front-end development to improve the user experience and user interface. The goal is to find the easiest way to explore the application’s functionality.
He holds a master’s degree in software engineering from the University of Bordeaux. In 2013, he developed CoralScrum: an open source project management tool for Scrum. He worked for Atos as a software engineer developing the website of the National Institute of Industrial Property.
Paul is a creative person using Photoshop, Blender 3D and occasionally drawing. A musician at heart, he began learning piano at the age of 5 and continues to play today. In his spare time, he reads Manga and watches Anime to discover Japanese culture.
Marine holds the position of IU/UX Designer at Qucit. Freshly graduated from a Master’s degree in Digital Strategy, specializing in UX Design at the Digital Campus, Marine has accumulated various experiences in graphic design and digital communication.
Prior to joining Qucit, Marine was Artistic Director at L’ antre des Arts. She brings her enthusiasm and creative flair to all the visuals and interfaces she creates. She especially likes to work on the user experience of our products and create graphic models that she enjoys animating.
A former competitive swimmer, swimming and drawing are two of her passions.
Michal is a backend engineer at Qucit. He is responsible for maintaining our data tools and resources to ensure that they function properly.
He obtained his master’s degree in electronics and telecommunications engineering in 2013 at the Polytechnic University of Poznan. As part of his studies he also spent a year at Télécom Bretagne in Brest. In 2014 he joined Aldebaran Robotics (now Softbank Robotics), the world leader in humanoid robotics. His role was to ensure the quality of the functionality related to verbal interaction between humans and robots.
His passions also include urban planning and public transport. This is one of the reasons why he joined Qucit: he wants to make cities more pleasant to live in! He also loves learning foreign languages and discovering new cultures.
Product Manager & Data Scientist
Arnaud is product manager and data scientist at Qucit. Its main objective is to maximize the value created for users. He also participates in the development of prediction and recommendation algorithms integrated into Qucit products.
He holds an engineering degree from the École Centrale de Lille, and a master’s degree in acoustics, signal processing and computer music from Télécom ParisTech, UPMC and Ircam. He also holds a PhD in computer science from UPMC, for his thesis work at Ircam on statistical learning for real-time audio applications. He then joined The University of York for a computer vision project on face modeling, and then worked at the University of Bordeaux on optimal transportation problems. He also holds a certificate in digital product management from Coursera and the University of Virginia.
He is passionate about music, improvisational theatre, outdoor sports such as climbing or surfing, and traveling. He is also an active guitarist in a rock band currently recording an album, and in a variety orchestra that tours under the name of Grand’Mix.
Aurélien joined the Qucit team as an Account Manager (public service) to help with the commercial side and find new partners and customers.
Before joining Qucit, he studied at SciencesPo Bordeaux (metropolitan/urban politics) and spent a year at the University of Copenhagen. It was at this point that he decided to take an interest in urban transport systems and digital issues in urban planning and mobility.
Aurélien is passionate about music, cycling, photography and chess!
Gaëtan is a data scientist at Qucit.
Before joining Qucit, he studied computer science at the Enseirb-Matmeca in Bordeaux. He has also travelled abroad to conduct laboratory research internships on motion prediction using machine learning in Japan and Natural Language Processing at Polytechnique Montréal in Canada.
Outside of work, Gaëtan enjoys playing competitive online video games and watching Anime.
Nicolas is a data scientist at Qucit. He joined the team with the aim of working on urban mobility issues, a theme that is dear to his heart. Among his missions, he ensures to measure and mathematically model the pulse of cities in order to understand and optimize their dynamics.
Barely PhD graduate in numerical simulation at the CNRS, aiming to develop processing algorithms for a large amount of data generated by supercomputers, Nicolas tackles this new challenge with great enthusiasm and envy.
Former swimmer in competition, Nicolas is also a wine, music and literature lover.
Finance & HR
Julien is in charge of Finance & HR. In 2009, he obtained a master degree in international management specializing in finance from ISEG Business School and also an MBA from ISM in New York.
Among its missions, it ensures the sound financial and HR management of the company, the implementation of efficient steering tools to monitor profitability and also guarantees compliance with social and legal obligations. Before joining Qucit, Julien worked in Paris area and also in Africa (Congo and Angola) acquiring multicultural Management skills.
Julien loves traveling, discovering new cultures and sports (Running and basketball).
Théophile is a data scientist at Qucit. He works on the architecture of our tools to optimise their performance and improve resource management.
He is a last year student in a 5-year computer science degree at the University of Technology of Compiègne. At the end of his studies, he specialized in datamining. He made a 6-month internship in a start-up at Austin, Texas in the energy sector. He participated in the development of a high performance electricity price forecasting model, from backend computing to frontend.
Théophile is a young marathon runner who loves sports: surf, tennis and running. He is also passionate about philosophy.
Pierre is a backend engineer at Qucit, working on infrastructure and tools to better support the needs of others team members.
As a fifth-year student of the Polytechnic Institute of Bordeaux, he specialized in high-performance computing and discovered a passion for distributed systems, from a computer-science point-of-view to a broader social outlook as well.
Once he started living in a city, he became interested in issues arisen by public transportation and shared public spaces. Later on, two internships carried out in the Silicon Valley made him support the cause of smarter cities for everybody.
A former competitive handball player, he is a native of Bordeaux too, hence a wine enthusiast and nature lover.
Marketing and Communication Researcher
Corentin is a Marketing and Communication Researcher at Qucit. He is responsible for creating relevant content to communicate effectively with our clients and communicate Qucit’s vision.
Preparing a Master in Brand Marketing at the ISEG in Bordeaux, he aims to contribute to the preservation of our environment. He would like the cities to become less energy-consuming while being more pleasant to live in for their inhabitants.
Self-taught and curious about the world around him, he likes to enrich himself with what he is told. He is passionate about sports, music and architecture.
Thomas is a data scientist at Qucit. He joined the team, accepting the challenging task to model and predict the processes linked to urban mobility and the general well-being inside the cities.
Before Qucit, Thomas studied at the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon, then got a PhD and did a post-doc tackling the modeling the fluxes of OCS, a molecule that helps us understand the behavior of the carbon cycle.
Concerning his hobbies, Thomas is a jack-of-all-trades, passionate about birdwatching, photos, sport and also science outreach.
Alix H. is a data scientist at Qucit, he participates in the development of data science models. Passionate about artificial intelligence and machine learning and deep learning issues, Alix is convinced that the widespread use of AI could improve everyone’s daily life and this idea led him to join Qucit.
Alix, a final year student at ITM Lille-Douai, has carried out a deep-learning project to recognize emotions on a human face. He has also participated in various data science challenges.
Outside of work, Alix is a great zythophile, an experienced hiker, a Sunday basketball player, a novice cinephile, an occasional bibliophile and a retired e-sport enthusiast.
Alix P. is an account executive at Qucit. After a business school in Lille and more than 4 years in Paris in a consulting firm in new technologies, Alix joins us to consolidate the Business and Customer Success team.
His experiences with La Poste, SCNF and Caisse des Dépôts and its subsidiaries have made him want to devote himself to improving urban spaces. Qucit was therefore an obvious choice, all the more so since it is closer to Béarn and the Landes where she comes from.
A lover of reading, dancing and nature, so it is on the side of the Ocean that you will have to find her on the weekends.
Gerardo is a backend software engineer at Qucit. He joined the team with a keen interest in designing and building scalable microservices and data collection and aggregation tools as well as tackling the problems associated with Big Data.
He graduated from Software Engineering in 2010 at the Universidad Tecnológica Nacional of Cordoba, Argentina. He started his career working for Motorola Mobility and after a few years he decided to move to New Zealand where he worked for Telecom. He later moved to Bordeaux in 2018.
He is an avid cinephile and among his favourites hobbies are: surfing and cooking!
Front-end Engineer Intern
Alaa is a 3rd year engineering student, he is an intern at Qucit. His mission focuses on the front-end development in order to improve the user experience and the user interface.
The goal is to produce intuitive, fluid and user-friendly applications.
Outside work, Alaa spends most of his time practicing his two hobbies: music which he has been playing for more than 10 years (guitar and piano), and cooking. Alaa is also a proud supporter of FC Barcelona.
Marketing and Communication Intern
Ilona is a student of an International Business Management at IAE Bordeaux. Ilona joined our team for the internship in the new for her direction – marketing and communications.
Having the first degree in International Economics she worked for 5 years in business development. Her responsibility for the Asian market of raw materials for paint industry at ChemPartners and for the European market of automotive paint accessories at EUROINJECT combined with her natural open-mindedness made her curious about international management and marketing.
She is passionate about traveling, having visited 24 countries so far, horse riding and latina dancing
Data Scientist Intern
Josselin joined Qucit as a Data Scientist, passionate about contemporary issues and convinced of the high value added by digital technologies to urban environments.
Always interested in optimization, he is doing a master’s degree in optimization research at the Université Paul Sabatier de Toulouse in parallel with his last year at ISAE-Supaero, where he studied data and decision sciences, specializing in Machine learning and Reinforcement Learning. After a first internship in Munich, Germany, to carry out statistical analyses of thermal models in the aeronautics sector, he decided to continue part of his studies in Singapore at NTU University in order to acquire multicultural skills that he will use from his next internship in Brazil with the Brazilian Space Agency.
A former windsurfer in competition, Josselin is passionate about outdoor sports: surfing, tennis and skiing. He is also interested in geopolitics and poetry.
Data Scientist Intern
Saphia is a Data Scientist at Qucit. She is working on the ComfortPredict project.
After obtaining an engineering degree from ISEP, she is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Data Sciences at the École Polytechnique. Convinced that data science can serve the common interest, particularly by improving urban services, she decided to apply to Qucit.
This is her second experience in the field of Smart Cities, she previously worked at Embix where she developed prediction models on connected photovoltaic panels and on water and electricity consumption in commercial buildings.
She enjoys travelling with family and friends or alone (3 months in Asia this summer, one month in Canada in Woofing) and team sports such as volleyball and football.
Survey Researcher Intern
Juliette is a 3rd year business school student at ESC Rouen, she is currently on an internship as an investigator at Qucit. She is in charge of conducting and administering the surveys that will be used to develop our products and satisfy our customers.
The environment and sociology are two subjects that are close to her heart, she is delighted to contribute to making cities more sustainable and pleasant to live in. Passionate about geopolitics and history, Juliette is also a big fan of classical and electronic music.
Mathieu is a Senior Advisor (and investor) to Qucit. From 2010 to 2016, Mathieu was the Executive Director of the New Cities Foundation, a non-profit with a mission to shape a better urban world for all by fostering urban innovation and entrepreneurship. In this role, Mathieu oversaw the Foundation’s strategy, fundraising, research and its day-to-day operations.
He led projects all over the world on topics including connected commuting, e-health and urban financing. He played a key role in the design of the Foundation’s events including the New Cities Summit and Cities on the Move (with Google X). Previously, he worked for the World Bank and for the UN, serving in Afghanistan and the Middle East. Mathieu is a graduate of Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and the London School of Economics.
He is a dual citizen of France and the US and has published articles in The Economist, Design Mind, the Foundation for Strategic Research, Les Clés de Demain, the French Almanac of International Relations and The World Today. Mathieu serves on his neighbourhood council as well as on the board of several non-profits. He is the proud father of two mischievous little boys.
