Capital of Flanders, Lille is a city rich in architecture and heritage that can be discovered by bike! The European Metropolis of Lille wishes to promote the use of bicycles as a daily mode of transport by developing public spaces adapted to the comfort and safety of cyclists. Nearly 1,000 km of cycling facilities throughout the city and 33 bicycle shelters have been designed to enable the Lille’s inhabitants to travel freely by bicycle. In addition to these quality infrastructures, the city of Lille also offers to its users a bike share system, the V'lille.

Since 2011, V'Lille has been managed by the operator Cykleo. Very popular among the inhabitants of Lille, these shared bikes have been booming since the first months of their launch, with more than 60 000 subscribers after only 8 weeks. Today, its success continues and the system now has 223 stations and nearly 2,200 bikes. To keep its system running perfectly, Cykleo has been using Qucit Bike since 2019 to reduce the number of kilometers travelled with its rebalancing trucks and to check the good condition of its stations every day. As a result, the software has over 40 regular users.

In our next post, we will discover Vancouver's bike share system!
