Focus on Vancouver, Canada!
Our blog posts series presents the different cities with which Qucit has partnered to offer mobility system optimization solutions. Discover how our solutions contribute to improving urban mobility in these areas!
With more than 500 kilometers of safe bike lanes, cycling is the fastest growing transportation mode in Vancouver. Some of the bike lanes are known for their scenic beauty and attractiveness, such as the Seaside Greenway bike route through Stanley Park. To take advantage of this beautiful infrastructure and discover the city, Vancouver has its own bike-sharing system: Mobi!
Launched in July 2016, the Mobi by Shaw Go system has no less than 203 stations for more than 2,000 bikes in circulation. The operation of the service has been assigned to Vancouver Bike Share Inc, a subsidiary of Cycle Hop. As Vancouver is a very hilly city, Mobi bike users leave from the city centre to reach the beaches located at a lower altitude. The challenge for the operator is to ensure that the higher stations are always supplied. So, since 2019, Vancouver Bike Share Inc has been working with Qucit to anticipate these asymmetrical flows and adapt the stations' rebalancing rounds to ensure an optimal system.
