AMBici and Bicing: towards a single bike share network for Barcelona?
Since launching in 2023, the AMBici bike share system has become a key link in Barcelona's metropolitan transport network, today spanning more than 2,600 e-bikes and 235 stations across 15 municipalities.
Its growth now raises a bigger question: could the city's two public bike share schemes — suburban AMBici and inner-city Bicing — one day operate as one?
For public transport authority Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB), integrating the two is the logical next step — one that would create one of the largest bike share networks in Europe. It's a challenge that is both political and operational, and one where Qucit already supports the AMBici and Bicing teams with its predictive fleet management tools.
