Focus on Tartu, Estonia!
Our blog posts series presents the different cities with which Qucit has partnered to offer mobility system optimization solutions. Discover how our solutions contribute to improving urban mobility in these areas!
Tartu is the second most important city in Estonia after the capital Tallinn. The city is considered as the cultural and intellectual capital of the country. In recent years, many cycle paths have been created in and around Tartu to make the city accessible to non-motorized transport. One of the best-known cycle routes through Tartu is the one between southern Estonia and northern Latvia: the "Tour de LatEst". To explore the region on two wheels, the city of Tartu offers a bike-sharing service, the Tartu Smart Bike Share.
Launched in June 2019, the Tartu Smart Bike Share now has more than 1,200 bikes, more than half of which are equipped with electric assistance. These bikes are distributed over 86 stations located throughout the city. This bike-sharing system is operated by the city of Tartu, through Tartu City Transport. Since October 2019, Qucit has been providing Tartu City Transport with Qucit Bike Redistribution software, which helps the organisation to optimise the rounds for rebalancing the stations. Today, about 15 Tartu City Transport operators regularly use the Qucit Bike to perform their daily tasks.
In our next post, we will discover the bike sharing system in Rennes, France!
