Qucit in Hamilton & Toronto for NABSA 2023!
From September 19 to 22, 2023, the Qucit team traveled to Canada to attend the NABSA 2023 conference!
What is NABSA?
North American Bikeshare and Scootershare Association (NABSA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing resources, education and advocacy for the shared micromobility sector, as well as creating spaces for the sector's public, private and non-profit sectors to come together and empower each other.
Each year, the association organizes a conference bringing together leaders, practitioners, operators and equipment suppliers in shared micromobility and transportation to address important issues facing the industry.
One of this year's special features: one conference in two cities! Raphaël and Thomas travelled first to Hamilton, where they were able to take part in various conferences and meet our prospects and customers at our stand to present the latest developments in our software, Qucit Bike.
Raphaël also took part in a conference entitled "Around the World in One Hour: Global Micromobility Success Stories", at which Qucit's projects over the past year were highlighted. The idea was to take conference participants on a journey through Qucit's different customers.
After 4 days in Hamilton, the adventure came to an end in Toronto, with a visit to the premises of our customer Shift Transit, which operates the Bike Share Toronto system. It was an opportunity for Raphaël and Thomas to meet the team who use our Qucit Bike software on a daily basis!
What are the key facts to remember?
1. The importance of station electrification for public bikes-sharing systems.
In fact, according to NABSA's 2022 State of the Industry report, electric bikes were used around 56% more than mechanical bikes, for systems with both types of bike. This is why Qucit Bike now enables its customers to rebalance these electric bikes at charging stations when the latter are not 100% electrified, thanks to the Bike Charging module.
2. Shared micromobility works best as part of a complete transport ecosystem.
As the conference was held in Hamilton and Toronto, we were able to discover the wealth of public transport options in the Ontario region. Buses and trains were very affordable and always connected to Bike Share Toronto or Hamilton Bike Share. In September, Bike Share Toronto reached the milestone of 4 million rides in 2023 (41 days earlier than last year). Congratulations!
3. Public bike-sharing systems have a positive impact on people and the planet.
Good for the health, economical and ecological, their large-scale development promotes access to this active mode of transport for residents while reducing the carbon footprint. The ultimate goal: to make cities more pleasant and sustainable!
We're delighted to have been able to take part in this latest edition of NABSA, which enabled us to meet our customers and partners and discuss the future of micromobility. The Qucit team looks forward to seeing you at the 2024 edition of NABSA in Philadelphia: the 5th for Qucit as a participant!
