Focus on Lima, Peru!

Our blog posts series presents the different cities with which Qucit has partnered to offer mobility system optimization solutions. Discover how our solutions contribute to improving urban mobility in these areas!

With a population of about ten million, Lima is the fifth largest city in Latin America, after Mexico City, São Paulo, Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro. The capital of Peru is undergoing a profound change in its urban mobility. Indeed, according to the Tomtom traffic index, in 2021 Lima had a traffic congestion level of 42%. This means that a 30-minute journey by car takes 13 minutes longer due to the density of road traffic. To reduce this dependence on the car, the city has decided to develop active mobility. The Miraflores district is now one of the first districts in Lima to benefit from a bike sharing system : the CityBike Lima!

Qucit Bike, Lima

The challenge in the Miraflores district was to launch an innovative public transport system in an environment not very conducive to cycling. Since its launch in 2019, the CityBike Lima system has been managed by Inurba Mobility and now has 500 bikes for 50 stations. CityBike Lima has quickly become very popular and has made a significant contribution to making the city more cyclist-friendly. Almost 200,000 trips were registered in 2020, increasing cycling mobility in the municipality by 100%. Since September 2022, Qucit has partnered with the Inurba Mobility teams which use Qucit Bike on a daily basis to optimize their field operations
