Focus on Recife, Brazil!
Our blog posts series presents the different cities with which Qucit has partnered to offer mobility system optimization solutions. Discover how our solutions contribute to improving urban mobility in these areas!
With its 3.7 million inhabitants Recife is the fifth largest urban area in Brazil. The strong economic and demographic development in the 1960s made the management of public transport complicated. Thus, in 2017, to get to their place of work, the inhabitants of Recife spent on average more than an hour and a half a day in public transport, including half an hour just waiting for the bus! In order to make public transport more fluid and offer sustainable mobility alternatives, the city authorities have since built nearly 40 kilometers of cycle paths and set up a bike sharing system called Bike PE!
Since 2017, the inhabitants of Recife have been able to benefit from the 800 bikes and 80 Bike PE stations set up by the operator Tembici. The bike sharing system Bike PE has been a great success in Recife! In order to guarantee an optimal system and always satisfy users, Qucit has been collaborating with Tembici since 2019 to optimize its fleet management. In this way, Tembici field team uses on a daily basis Qucit Bike to optimize their station rebalancing and maintenance operations tour.
In our next post, we will discover the bike share system in Rio de Janeiro!
