What did Qucit Bike for shared mobility in 2021?

"Simplify shared mobility to make cities more livable and sustainable", our mission has never been more meaningful than in 2021! International development, creation of new functionalities and conclusion of new partnerships, the year was rich in novelties for Qucit Bike.

Qucit Bike: optimizing shared mobility systems

What is Qucit's mainspring? To help make cities more pleasant by optimizing shared mobility systems. The Qucit Bike software has been designed to help operators of bike-sharing systems to optimize the management of their fleet thanks to the software. The software has two modules:

  • A dashboard, for the managers, helping in the visualization in real time of the status of the system and analyzing all the operations carried out.

  • A mobile application, used by the team on the field, assisting them to carry out their daily tasks in an optimal way.

A software used by shared mobility operators around the world

Since its creation in 2014, Qucit has not experienced such international expansion. Last year, nearly 25 cities in 9 countries across 3 continents used the Qucit Bike app to optimize the management of their shared vehicle fleets.  In 2021, 12 operators have placed their trust in us. In this way, 60,000 bikes have been managed using the Qucit Bike application. A record since the creation of Qucit! This figure also means that Qucit Bike has contributed to 96,000,000 bike rentals in 2021. To maintain this large fleet, operators performed more than 750,000 operations with our software, which is equivalent to 5,800,000 bike movements over the year!

New features to meet the needs of shared mobility system operators

The year 2021 also marked a turning point for Qucit Bike. In March, the BikePredict Redistribution mobile application dedicated to field teams changed its name to Qucit Bike on App Store and Google Play. This new name reflects the latest developments in our software, which now includes much more than just rebalancing: the integration of maintenance operations and the collection of discharged electric bikes.

A diversification of functionalities that will continue in 2022!

Field maintenance operations

Qucit Bike now assists operators in the maintenance of their shared mobility system.

On the field side, the mobile application has been redesigned to help them to:

  • Select different actions at the beginning of the tour such as checking stations, rebalancing, repairing damaged stations or collecting broken bikes.

  • Receive various tasks in an intelligent and automatic way to optimize each tour.

  • Modify their actions during the tour to have more flexibility.

On the operations manager side, the dashboard has been improved to allow them to:

  • Push specific maintenance tasks manually

  • Add custom maintenance tasks such as making sure the kiosk door is closed, disinfecting the bike frame, etc.)

Pickup of discharged e-bikes

2021 was also the occasion for Qucit Bike to integrate the pickup of discharged electric bikes into the tours of the field teams!

The mobile application has been improved to help the field teams to:

  • Select a route dedicated to the collection of unloaded e-bikes.

  • Optimize their tour to collect e-bikes more efficiently.

In early September, the Qucit team traveled to Lisbon, Portugal to attend the Velo-City 2021 conference.

Velo-City is considered as the first annual global summit dedicated to shared mobility, acting as a global platform for knowledge exchange. The conference brings together all those involved in the policy and promotion of cycling, active mobility and sustainable urban development. After Velo-City 2019 in Dublin, Lisbon hosted Velo-City 2021. The show took place from 6 to 9 September 2021 and explored the theme of "cycling diversity".
